Telemedicine Resources

This page will be updated with the most current information and resources regarding my practice.

All patient visits will be done remotely using HIPAA-compliant Zoom, and Simple Practice, a HIPAA-compliant platform for telemedicine. This is to provide safety for all of us.

And, there are many advantages to this:

  1. Convenience: You get to enjoy being in the privacy of your own home.
  2. Time: No travel to and from the office, therefore, less time involved.

MAGIC DIAL & SPECIAL PLACE EXERCISES

During this unprecedented time, many of us may be experiencing higher levels of anxiety. Sheltering in place and social distancing present new challenges for all of us. I teach my patients these two quick but powerful tools, which have been very effective in helping them manage anxiety.

TIME WITH FAMILY

Families are enjoying more time together, playing board games, taking walks, bicycling, and watching television.

One of my friends shared a beautiful story with me. He said that his family had celebrated his son’s 13th birthday by arranging a scavenger hunt for him. The first clue led to a friend’s house, then that friend gave him the next clue, and that led to the home of another friend. By the time they were finished, this young man had gotten the chance to see all of his friends on his birthday! What a loving, thoughtful, and creative experience!

I would like to invite you to share some positive stories and would love to include them in this blog. As it happens, this is not a political forum. Of course, all identifying information will remain confidential, as with the above example.

SUBMISSIONS

“For us this time has been quite the mixed bag. Spending time together as a family has been wonderful, but also has presented some unexpected challenges. We are managing the school work well and the kids (11 and 13) are feeling success with completing their work and connecting with their classes online. The biggest challenge and learning experience for all of us is the management of emotions around the shelter in place and really the lack of our village of support. We have realized that growing and nurturing a family is enhanced and has greater chance for success with the help of a village. This includes family, friends, school staff and teachers, grandparents, aunts and uncles…this list could continue. The silver lining of this pandemic is that we will all hopefully see the value of slowing down, being together, enjoying nature, and building relationships that enhance our lives. While the financial situation is very scary, the root of happiness lies in our relationships and being able to enjoy the present moment (no matter how it looks). I once read, “Situations are neither good nor bad, it is our mind that makes them so.” This idea has been so helpful in managing the moment to moment changes in news, emotions, restrictions, etc. We are doing our best during this time to lead with love and compassion for ourselves, our children, our community, and the world. Together we will heal!”
